GennaRoseNethercott “The Death and Birth of Jesse James”


GennaRose Nethercott is a poet, playwright, and performer from Brattleboro, Vermont, currently based in Chicago. She makes a living by writing and touring her work to libraries, schools, theaters, and poetry venues, and by serving a mean cup of coffee as a barista extraordinaire. Her poem “Departures” was recently selected as the winner of the Holland Park Press “What’s Your Place?” competition from a pool of 456 submissions. Nethercott’s most recent theatrical production, an original play entitled Ghostmaker: A Myth for Voices, is a folklore-inspired piece comprised of poetry, theatrical dialogue, shadow puppetry, and live music. She holds degrees in poetry, theatre, and folklore studies from Hampshire College and The University of Edinburgh.
